Product sync – what does it mean?
Definition
Product sync: product sync is the regular transfer of the online store’s product data (name, price, stock, description) into the knowledge base.
The assistant updates the product data of the online store platform (Shoprenter, UNAS, WooCommerce) daily or hourly, so it gives up-to-date answers on price and stock.
How it works
The assistant regularly takes over the product data of the online store: the product’s name, price, stock and description. For Shoprenter, UNAS and WooCommerce, the update runs hourly or daily.
It uses the transferred data to answer customers’ questions, citing the source. The assistant does not write to the online store; it only reads from it: if the price changes in the morning, it gives the new price after the next update.
An example from a company
A customer asks whether a perfume is in stock; the assistant answers based on the data from the latest sync. If there is no answer to the question in the knowledge base, the assistant asks for contact details and hands the question off to a colleague. The answer is given in the customer’s language.
What this means for business owners
If the stock or the price does not come from a sync, the assistant may give yesterday’s data. So ask the provider where it takes the figure from, and how often it is updated.
The risk: the customer gets the wrong price or stock information, and the order is lost. The right answer is that the assistant hands off and does not guess.
How we do it
For Shoprenter, UNAS and WooCommerce online stores, products, prices and stock are updated from a sync, hourly or daily. Our team carries out the onboarding, and before go-live we check the assistant with ten test questions.
The Chat AI Starter monthly fee is €14.90 / month excl. VAT, with an allowance of 500 answered questions per month. You can see the steps of how it works on the How it works page.
