AI disclosure

AI disclosure: how customers know they are talking to artificial intelligence

Short answer

Every SmartAIAssist chat interface shows this in the header: “Artificial intelligence, not a human”, and in its first message the assistant introduces itself as artificial intelligence. The disclosure is required by Article 50 of the EU AI Act, since 2 August 2026. The owner can change the wording, but cannot remove the AI designation.

The wording of the disclosure, verbatim

Header: “[Company] AI assistant” – below it: “Artificial intelligence, not a human”.

First message: “Good day. I am the AI assistant of [Company], an artificial intelligence. I can help with questions about products, delivery and ordering. I can make mistakes, so for important questions I am happy to hand you over to a colleague.”

Handoff: “I am forwarding this question to a colleague at [Company]. Please give me your email address or phone number, and they will get in touch on the next working day.”

Uncertainty: “I am not sure about this. What I know: [answer]. If you need exact information, a colleague will help.”

In the demo preview, an extra line: “This is a preview based on the public pages of [domain]; it is not the official assistant of [Company]. The preview is deleted after 24 hours.”

What the owner can change

The company name, the topics of the introduction, the tone (informal or formal address) and the response time after handoff. The “artificial intelligence” designation in the header and in the first message cannot be changed. Nor can the assistant claim to be a human.

Accessibility

The disclosure can also be read by screen readers, the chat window can be navigated by keyboard, and the assistant’s messages appear in a live region that is read aloud. An external accessibility audit will follow after the self-service path. Until then, this is what we state: “developed in line with accessibility guidelines”.

Frequently asked questions

AI disclosure

What does Article 50 of the AI Act require?

That people know when they are interacting with an AI system, unless this is obvious from the circumstances. On a chat interface, this means the disclosure.

Can I switch off the disclosure?

No. You can adapt the wording to your own tone, but the artificial intelligence designation and the “not a human” statement cannot be removed. An empty field cannot be saved.

What happens if the customer asks whether they are talking to a human?

The assistant answers honestly: artificial intelligence, not a human. It offers to hand the conversation over to a colleague.

Is there a disclosure in the demo too?

Yes, plus an extra line: “This is a preview based on the public pages of [domain]; it is not the official assistant of [Company].”

Who is responsible for compliance?

The provider, R-Szoft Kft., ensures the disclosure on every interface. The owner is responsible for including the chat in their own privacy policy.

The automatic preview is ready after you submit the form, and it is deleted after 24 hours.
