Knowledge base – what does it mean?
Definition
Knowledge base: the knowledge base is the collection of the company’s documents and pages from which the AI assistant answers.
It includes the website, the price list, the delivery terms, the FAQ and the product data.
How it works
The assistant answers only from what the company gives it. The knowledge base includes the website, the price list, the delivery terms, the FAQ and the product data; when a question is asked, the assistant searches in it. If it finds a match, it answers; if not, it does not guess.
The source is shown next to the answer, so the visitor can check it. If there is nothing in the knowledge base, the assistant asks for contact details and hands the question off to a colleague.
An example from a company
A winery uploads its wine list, the terms for cellar visits and its accommodation information. If someone asks about opening hours or the price of accommodation, the assistant answers from the uploaded material and indicates the source. If there is no data on the tasting ticket, it asks for the prospective customer’s email address and hands the question off to a colleague.
What this means for business owners
The upload is the first step: the assistant does not talk about anything that is not in it, and the visitor asks in vain. Ask the provider what happens if there is no answer in the knowledge base – the right answer is that it hands off and does not guess. With incomplete content, prospective customers are lost, so check the questions regularly.
How we do it
Our team carries out the onboarding, and before go-live we check with ten test questions whether the answers are correct. The onboarding fee is €200 excl. VAT; it is €100 excl. VAT with a 6-month contract and free with a 12-month contract, and you get an 8 or 15 percent discount on the monthly fee. The Chat AI Starter monthly fee is €14.90 / month excl. VAT.
