Widget and code snippet – what does it mean?

Definition

Widget and code snippet: the widget is the chat window shown on the website; the code snippet is the few lines that have to be inserted into the website for the widget to appear.

The code snippet has to be inserted into the website theme or into Google Tag Manager.

How it works

The code snippet is a few lines that have to be inserted into the website theme or into Google Tag Manager. Once it is inserted, the widget appears on the website.

The window is connected to the assistant: this is where visitors ask their questions. Our team carries out the onboarding, and before go-live we check the answers with ten test questions.

An example from a company

The web developer inserts the code snippet into the website theme, and the owner can already see the window on their own site. The assistant answers visitors’ questions based on the knowledge base, with the source shown next to the answer.

What this means for business owners

Placing the code snippet is one of the onboarding steps, and the launch may depend on it. Clarify in advance who will place it, and when. If the code snippet is not placed, the assistant remains invisible and the launch is delayed.

How we do it

Our team carries out the onboarding, and before go-live we check the assistant with ten test questions. Live within two working days, if we have access to edit your website or your web developer places the code snippet.
